Detectives Goren & Eames investigate the drug related death of a city health inspector on a housing estate downtown. During the course of the investigation, detective Goren comes face to face with Nicole Wallace again, who is engaged to the victims brother with a young daughter.

Actor Chris Noth reprises his role as Detective Mike Logan who has been transfered to the Major Case Squad.
